Who tells a story changes what is remembered. 5n1k puts the same day side by side: read it with your own memory, then switch to another country's view with a single tap.
Global
The demolition of the Berlin Wall belongs to the end of the Cold War as a global order. The German Democratic Republic had built the Wall in 1961 to enclose West Berlin, and it stood until 1989.
Türkiye
The fall of the Berlin Wall began the end of the barrier that had divided East and West Germany since 1961. Throughout the Cold War, Turkey stood in this divided Europe on NATO's southeastern flank, bordering the Soviet Union.
Deutschland
This day marked the beginning of the end of the Berlin Wall, which had divided the city since 1961. The fall of the Wall was part of the Peaceful Revolution in the GDR. Just under eleven months later, on 3 October 1990, reunification followed.
